FIRE BAN IN EFFECT – CLEAR HILLS COUNTY – STARTING SEPTEMBER 10, 2025

Clear Hills County Council has issued a Fire Ban effective 12:01 a.m. on September 10, 2025, under Bylaw No. 285-24.

NOT ALLOWED:
• Open burning (brush piles, burn barrels, debris)
• Fireworks or exploding targets
• Fires outside approved areas/devices
• Charcoal briquette fires
• Turkey fryers
• Tiki torches

ALLOWED IF USED SAFELY:

Campfires
• Small, supervised wood campfires following Safe Wood Campfire rules
• Only in designated campgrounds, day-use areas, or private land

Safe Wood Campfire Requirements:
• Max size: 0.5 m high x 0.5 m wide
• In a fire ring (metal, brick, or rock) on a non-combustible base
• Minimum 1 metre clearance around the fire
• Must have water, shovel, etc. on hand
• Supervised at all times
• Fully extinguish before leaving: soak, stir, soak again until cold

Approved Devices (CSA-approved or UL-certified):
• Portable propane fire pits
• Gas/propane stoves or BBQs (for cooking/heating)
• Catalytic or infrared-style heaters

FOR LANDOWNERS:
All non-permitted fires must be extinguished within 1 day of the ban starting.
If not extinguished:
• County will issue a 1-day notice
• Fires still burning after notice will be extinguished by the County
• All costs associated will be charged to the landowner
